Coverage
Three coverages do the work on a renovation and they answer for different things. One answers for the building and the materials while the job is open. One answers for a house being refreshed rather than rebuilt, and is written on a dwelling form. One answers for the people who walk onto the site. A rehab file usually needs more than one of them, and the scope of work decides which. Each page below sets out what the coverage protects, where it stops, and the point at which something else has to pick up.
- Builders Risk Insurance Written for a building with its walls open — the structure, what is being installed in it, and what the job has already cost.
- Dwelling Policy with a Cosmetic Repair Endorsement A dwelling form carrying a refresh — paint, cabinets, fixtures — on a house nobody is living in while the work runs.
- General Liability Insurance The people who arrive at a half-finished house, invited or not, and what answers when one of them is hurt.
